New floors on existing buildings
Adding storeys to an existing block is a common way to get new flats out of a London site, and the windows have to suit both the new structure and the building below. At 1-5 Western Road in Romford we fitted the windows for two new floors with 10 apartments; at Rutland Place in Bushey it was a new top floor of 8 apartments across two blocks.
Access is usually the hard part on these jobs: working at height on a live building, with residents underneath. We plan deliveries and installation around your scaffold and lifting arrangements so the new floor is weathertight as soon as possible.
New-build apartments
For new residential buildings the windows need to meet the current Building Regulations for energy (Part L), overheating (Part O) and security (Part Q), along with anything the planning consent adds. We work from your specification and drawings, check sizes against the structural openings, and give you a clear frame-by-frame schedule.
At 2 Greenleaf Road in Walthamstow we fitted a brick residential building with balconies and large window openings, including 6 new apartments.
